"If the music is the words, then a mix is a sentence, a paragraph, perhaps even a book. It may be emotional or it may be not. It may be breathtaking or relaxing. Whatsoever. A lot of DJs are, often without recognizing, not Dadaists. Their sets are books that prove themselves to be readable, even to make sense. But how can one "write", align and overlap "words", with full consciousness? How can one not just state an expression (senseless or not) but "tell" a "story"?"

This is the subject of our first experiment. We are going to tell a story through a 3 part mix series. With part one we start in a city and a people that are vibrant, moving and advancing. This first set is split into 5 movements:

1-4 Welcome
5-7 People
8-14 Sunset to Sunrise
15-20 The Wheels Of Industry
21-22 Hope For The Future

The next mix will pick up in the story where this one left off. This mix was done in one take with no edits in The Plan's make shift bunker during 2 week Escapism session number 26. This project was concieved years before and we have picked this very moment to put it into action. We beleive that spinning records can be much more than just matching beats, working the faders and eq's and just making people dance. This music is capable of putting forth messages beyond just the content of the tracks alone. Look beneath the surface..........

Nachtrag: Bei Leistungseinbrüchen sollte man auch mal die Mineralstoffzufuhr im Auge behalten. Durch eine ausreichende Kalium- und Natriumzufuhr kann man hier u.U. schon etwas entgegenwirken. Grundsätzlich muss man aber selbst sehen, wie gut man ohne Carbs zurecht kommt bzw. wie weit man reduzieren kann und wie oft man refeeds einbauen muss. Mit einer klassischen Atkinsdiät - also chronisch Keto - wird man sehr wahrscheinlich unweigerlich ein paar Leistungseinbuüen hinnehmen müssen (zumindest, wenn man hochvolumig und gleichzeitig intensiv trainiert).
Bei AD/MD sieht die Sache vollständig anders aus. Im übrigen kann man Atkins und AD/MD sowieso nur bedingt in einen Topf werfen. Die AD zielt darauf ab, Kohlehydrate und Insulin gezielt und intelligent zu nutzen. Es handelt sich hier im Prinzip um zwei grundverschiedene Ansätze.
öbrigens: Leistungseinbuüen durch KH-Entzug sind nicht zwangsläufig (solange die Glycogenspeicher nicht zu sehr geplündert sind und gleichzeitig ausreichend Triglyceride im Muskel vorhanden sind).

The effect of preexercise carbohydrate status on resistance exercise performance.

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of a high vs. a low preexercise carbohydrate (CHO) diet on performance during multiple sets of resistance exercise. Eleven resistance-trained males performed cycle ergometry to deplete quadriceps muscle glycogen stores, followed by 48 hr of a high (HICHO) or a low (LOCHO) CHO diet. Subjects then performed five sets each of squats, leg presses, and knee extensions (resistance = 15 RM) to failure. Blood samples were taken before and during exercise for determination of glucose and lactate (LA). No differences in performance (repetitions x weight lifted) were observed (HICHO = 15,975 +/- 1,381 and LOCHO = 15,723 +/- 1,231 kg). Blood glucose was significantly higher after exercise for HICHO compared to LOCHO (HICHO = 4.8 +/- 0.2 vs. LOCHO = 3.9 +/- 0.2 mmol.L-1). No differences in LA accumulation were observed. The data indicated that preexercise CHO status did not affect resistance exercise performance. Further, the differences in blood glucose and the similarity in LA responses suggest that glycolysis was maintained in the LOCHO condition, and there may have been an increased reliance on blood glucose when preexercise CHO status was low.

Nine bodybuilders performed heavy-resistance exercise activating the quadriceps femoris muscle. Intermittent 30-s exhaustive exercise bouts comprising 6-12 repetitions were interspersed with 60-s periods for 30 min. Venous blood samples were taken repeatedly during and after exercise for analyses of plasma free fatty acid (FFA) and glycerol concentration. Muscle biopsies were obtained from the vastus lateralis muscle before and after exercise and assayed for glycogen, glycerol-3-phosphate, lactate and triglyceride (TG) content. The activities of citrate synthase (CS), lactate dehydrogenase, hexokinase (HK), myokinase, creatine kinase and 3-hydroxyacyl-CoA dehydrogenase (HAD), were analysed. Histochemical staining procedures were used to assess fibre type composition, fibre area and capillary density. TG content before and after exercise averaged (SD) 23.9 (13.3) and 16.7 (6.4) mmol kg-1 dry wt. The basal triglyceride content varied sixfold among individuals and the higher the levels the greater was the change during exercise. The glycogen content decreased (P less than 0.001) from 690 (82) to 495 (95) mmol kg-1 dry wt. and lactate and glycerol-3-phosphate increased (P less than 0.001) to 79.5 (5.5) and 14.5 (7.3) mmol kg-1 dry wt., respectively, after exercise. The HK and HAD/CS content respectively correlated with glycogen or TG content at rest and with changes in these metabolites during exercise. FFA and glycerol concentrations increased slightly (P less than 0.001) during exercise. Lipolysis may, therefore, provide energy during heavy-resistance exercise of relatively short duration. Also, storage and utilization of intramuscular substrates appear to be influenced by the metabolic profile of muscle.
